Techno Kids Computer Curriculum A set of technology projects designed for middle school students. These projects teach how to create web pages, magazines, digital stories, advertisements, and more using Microsoft Office.

Technology at Grenada!

Technology is an important part of our curriculum, with all classrooms having computers connected to the Internet and are used to manage instruction and augment learning. In addition, the computer lab is utilized by the students to learn computer skills, improve literacy using Reading Naturally, Accelerated Reader, Waterford, or complete research for class projects. The technology specialist coordinates the programs in the computer lab and oversees the school website which contains important school information.

Using the district's technology plan as a guide, the staff will be developing both long and short-term goals for each grade level. These benchmarks will provide direction for implementing technology in the classroom.  Needs assessments are completed at various times during the year and they provide direction for both purchases and training. All software programs in math, reading, writing, science and keyboarding are selected for their ability to raise student achievement and adherence to instructional objectives. Technology Lessons will be created for each grade level, which will closely aligned with the CORE/Essential Standards objectives.  These lessons replace the isolated teaching of technology skills from the Technology CORE objectives by embedding this instruction in the regular curriculum. The School Site Council,  consisting of parents and staff, meets to monitor and revise the school technology plan, update goals, and facilitate improvement.

GESD has been aggressive in pursuing the necessary equipment so that students can be technologically literate. Student presentations can be stored on schools server and preserve precious classroom computer memory. The school library has a computer based checkout system with the Follett Catalog Plus card catalog system to enable students to use print resources efficiently.
